Pause and look around. Can you sense the anxiety … the depression … the silent suffering … the struggle for something to believe in? It’s everywhere. But, we know that just as God has raised Christ from the dead, he is also raising us to new life by being here in the midst of our suffering, providing the grace each one of us needs.
We have all been called to be witnesses to the power of Christ in our lives. In response to that call, we are blessed and excited to announce the establishment of our parish Mental Health Ministry. The Mental Health Ministry at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton has been created to provide support for those who are experiencing mental illness, as well as their family members & friends. Beginning in July, we will offer two types of Spiritual Support Groups – one for those experiencing mental illness, and another for family members and friends of those who do. More information about these groups appears below.
Our ministry will provide educational opportunities for everyone to learn more about what life is like for those who walk this journey in order to overcome the attitudes and misunderstandings about mental illness. Monthly activities will also begin in July, and information will be posted on this page.
It can be easy to lose sight of Christ in the midst of suffering, yet we know He is always there. Through the experience of prayer, supportive relationships, and education the goal of our ministry is to ensure that no one feels alone in their struggle with mental illness.
