The guide offers the Twelve Steps of recovery from a Catholic and sacramental perspective and is designed for those impacted by a variety of addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments, loved ones of an addict, and anyone else desiring to surrender their life to God’s love and care.Catholic in Recovery is a nonprofit organization that seeks to serve those suffering from addictions and unhealthy attachments.
They support parishes and communities with group resources that draw people closer to these two powerful sources of grace - Love and Mercy!

To find the strength to remain sober he decided to attend Mass every morning before work and to receive Holy Communion. This was very unusual in the 1880’s when the average good layman went to Mass just on Sunday and received Holy Communion only at Easter and Christmas. At the end of three months, Matt took the pledge to abstain from alcohol for six months and finally took it for life.
